UpdraftPlus

UpdraftPlus is a WordPress plugin for backing up and restoring a site. It saves your files and database on a schedule and sends the copies to remote storage you choose, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or Amazon S3, so a backup survives even if the server fails.

The free version handles scheduled backups and restores from the WordPress dashboard. Paid versions add incremental backups, more storage destinations, migration to a new address and backups of multisite networks.

A backup is only useful if it restores. Test a restore on a staging copy once, keep backups somewhere other than your host, and check how many copies the schedule keeps. Even if your host backs up your site, a separate copy gives you a way out if the hosting account itself has a problem.
